Jackie Earle Haley, who played Rorschach in the big-screen adaptation of Alan Moore and David Gibbons’ “Watchmen,” will take over the role made famous by Robert Englund in the 2010 remake of Wes Craven’s 1984 “Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Now, I was never a fan of the original film series for 2 reasons. 1: I was too young when they came out and my parents never let me watch them, and 2: I was too much of a coward to really want to. But I’ve seen them on HBO and Cinemax over the years, and if anyone can pull off a Freddy that’s as scary or even more so than Englund’s then it’s definitely Haley.
Jeez, I knew the plot and all the lines of “Watchmen” (having read the graphic novel four times before the movie came out), but he still scared the hell out of me.
"None of you understand! I’m not locked up in here with you. You’re locked up in here with meeeee!" After watching him pour boiling oil on a fellow inmate and hitting him on the head with a mess hall tray, I’ll believe anything he says.
